Out and About
Near El Médano, there are also other beaches where you can soak up the
sun in total peace without being surrounded by crowds of people. The
beach at ‘La Tejita’ is one of the few, genuinely natural beaches on
the island, scarcely visited by tourists at all, as it lies within the
natural shelter of ‘Montaña Roja’ (the red mountain). If you fancy
going shopping, there are small shops which sell all sorts of things,
including gifts. In the village itself, there are many typical,
Canary-style restaurants which specialise in meat and fish dishes, as
well as a variety of international restaurants, each with their own
cuisine. In the early evening, you can stroll down to the bars and
terraces which line the seafront, and while away the hours chatting
with friends, over a glass of sangria or a good bottle of canary wine.
Distance
It lies within the borough of Granadilla de Abona, at a mere 8km from
the south airport (Reina Sofia), 100km from the north airport (Los
Rodeos), 65km from Santa Cruz de Tenerife and 20km from the beaches at
Los Cristianos and Las Americas. A taxi from Reina Sofia airport will
take around 10 min, therefore costing about £10.00.
