Gozo Information Gozo
is a small island off the north west coast of Malta and can be
easily reached by car ferry from Cirkewwa (Malta's most northern
point) or from Pieta near Valletta.
Picturesque little settlements dot the
island, and the friendly but reserved people go about their daily
tasks in much the same way as their ancestors before them. The
best sandy beach on Gozo is Ramla Bay on the north side, with its
wide sweep of reddish sand. Alternatively explore the island?s
many fjord like inlets which offer excellent rocky bay swimming
points. The capital, Victoria, has a good selection of local and
tourist shops as well as a colourful, open-air street market, and
Craft "village" near San Lawrenz. Visitors to Gozo can experience
a variety of water sports; horse riding; and walking. The
nightlife on the island is fairly limited with a few bars and
discos; but larger hotels offer barbecues and entertainers. This
is an ideal destination for those seeking a relaxing holiday amid
beautiful surroundings.
Xlendi Information
Xlendi has become a small resort with a small land-locked sandy
and pebbly beach, on the west side of the Island. It is tucked
away under towering cliffs and has a fjord like character to it.
Slightly smaller than Marsalforn, Xlendi appeals to those not
seeking brash entertainment but preferring peace, beauty and a
slow pace of life, but it still offers all the amenities visitors
need. The pedestrianised sea front can get quite busy during
lunchtime and at night when al fresco dining is de riguer during
the balmy summer evenings. The resort offers a varied choice of
dining experiences, from burgers to pizzerias, along with a choice
of quality harbour-front restaurants.
Marsalforn Information
A fishing village on the north coast, Marsalforn has developed
into Gozo's most popular sea resort. Its small size means that
everywhere is within walking distance, and makes it very tranquil
in the off-peak seasons. It is very popular with Gozitans,
particularly on Sundays, and with Maltese visitors in summer, who
tend to spend their weekends here. It is well serviced by shops
and restaurants, particularly those specialising in fish and
seafood. |
